Rich, dark and voluptuous - a fantastic bargain and a sign of things to come from the new winemaker at Akarua, Matt Connell. These guys have the largest vineyard holdings in Central Otago and are undergoing major improvements. This wine is drinking well now but will keep for 5 years.

Brennan Pinot Noir 2007

The best yet from Sean Brennan and the wine it seems he truly wants to make. Now really starting to drink well. It has the redfruit characters typical of its cool Gibbston site, but also is starting to develop earthy, mushroomy notes. The palate is soft and the tannins powdery. Great drinking now and will cellar for another 5 years or so.

Gibbston Valley Le Maitre Pinot Noir 2009

Made from the oldest vines in Gibbston, this wine, still unreleased, promises to be a beauty. Red fruits, herbal and gamey notes, slightly corrupt and funky but all the better for it. This is not correct wine, but who cares, its bloody delicious!!!
